Meet Marisa Catapano, ND
Board-certified, licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) specializing in emotional well-being and integrative cancer care
I entered the medical field with a deep desire to help people return to a state of wellness and wholeness. To heal chronic disease and restore balance of body, mind, heart and spirit. To teach people how to honor their bodies, reconnect with their humanness, reclaim their power and ENJOY their lives.
This passion led me to Naturopathic medicine - a holistic approach to healthcare that combines the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. With allies such as nutrition, movement, lifestyle modifications, botanical/fungi medicine and nutraceuticals I provide individualized, evidence-based care that balances the least harmful and most effective approaches, addresses the root causes of chronic disease and facilitates the body’s innate healing intelligence.
With a thirst for more knowledge and experience in treating one of the most pervasive chronic diseases, I completed a 2-year oncology-focused residency. Here I supported many patients with cancer through conventional treatment and survivorship with naturopathic interventions.
My work with cancer patients showed me that a key element of health was being overlooked by conventional and Naturopathic doctors alike - EMOTIONS. My training in Neo Emotional Release (NER) was the missing link in my mission to wholly care for human beings on all levels. NER is a gentle somatic healing modality that allows suppressed emotions that are contributing to dis-ease in the body and mind to finally be expressed and transformed. It is the most powerful healing I have experienced and witnessed, and it is a true honor to facilitate the process of my patients coming back home to themselves.
Why Naturopathic Medicine?
Treating Root Causes,
Not Just Symptoms
Rather than merely suppressing symptoms, naturopathic medicine seeks to identify and treat the underlying root causes of illness. By addressing the fundamental imbalances and dysfunctions contributing to disease, naturopathic treatments can provide longer lasting relief and better overall health outcomes.
Holistic and Personalized Approach
Naturopathic medicine takes a holistic approach to healing, recognizing and harnessing the interconnectedness of body, mind and spirit to promote optimal wellness and wholeness. Treatment plans are highly individualized and address many levels of health.
Natural and Minimally
Invasive Treatments
One of the core principles of naturopathic medicine is the use of natural, minimally invasive therapies like nutrition, lifestyle counseling, botanical medicine and manual therapies. These modalities stimulate the body's innate healing abilities with fewer adverse effects compared to conventional pharmaceuticals and invasive procedures.
Doctor as Teacher
Patient education and empowerment are of the utmost importance. ND's spend ample time with patients in order to establish trust, teach them about their disease and help them understand what it takes to achieve and maintain health.
Prevention
Whenever possible, NDs work with patients to identify risk factors and create healthy habits before disease manifests to facilitate lifelong wellbeing.
